Terms & Conditions

By accepting a position at Camp Eden Woods, you agree to the following terms and conditions as outlined below. These terms are designed to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for both you and the campers, and to make sure everyone is happ.

1. Staff Compensation and Pay Chart

Camp Eden Woods compensates staff according to a clearly defined pay structure. The pay rates for general staff roles are set out in the staff pay chart below. Your exact salary written per week will be outlined on your contract pre-employment.

  • Please note that compensation for certain specialty positions may vary. These rates will be confirmed with you at the time of hiring, based on the specific role and expertise required.

  • Pay will be distributed according to the schedule set by Camp Eden Woods, and taxes will be deducted as required by law.

2. Role Expectations

As an overnight summer camp, the nature of the work at Camp Eden Woods is immersive and requires a commitment to the safety, enjoyment, and well-being of all campers. Staff are expected to be actively engaged and present throughout their shifts, and to be available for camp activities as needed.

  • Camp staff are technically expected to be available all day as per your shifts since we are an overnight camp, though we make every effort to ensure staff have opportunities for rest and relaxation with scheduled time off through days off, nights off and even hours off. Additionally, if you ever need to switch a shift with a co-counsellor or need to take unscheduled time off, this can be done if extra staff are available upon an informal discussion with management.

  • We encourage all staff to engage fully in the camp experience, and we strive to make your time at camp as enjoyable as possible. You are not just a caretaker of the campers; you are a key part of the camp community. We hope you will embrace the fun, creativity, and camaraderie that make Camp Eden Woods special.

3. Time Off

Each staff member will receive one day off and one night off per session. During these designated off times, you are welcome to stay on camp grounds or leave the premises, based on your personal preferences and availability of transport.

  • Staff must remain on-site during the camp sessions, unless otherwise arranged with management. During your time off, you are free to enjoy camp's facilities, socialize with fellow staff, or leave camp to explore the local area.

4. Travel and Transportation

All staff are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Camp Eden Woods. However, we will assist with coordinating pickups and transport options when and where possible, based on staff availability, flight schedules, and the start date of the camp season.

  • Transportation Coordination: We will aim to coordinate with other staff members who have similar flight and arrival dates to streamline travel arrangements. This coordination will begin approximately one month before pre-camp training.

5. Pre-Camp Training

All staff must be available for mandatory pre-camp training one week before the start of the first session. This training is crucial for ensuring that all staff members are familiar with camp procedures, safety protocols, and camper care expectations.

  • If you need to miss any days of staff training due to exams, graduation or other reasons, it is no problem. Please let us know as soon as you know so we can prepare for anything you may miss.

6. Required Documentation and Certifications

As part of the hiring process, all staff members must:

  • Provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Check, which is required for working with minors (or equivalent based on country).

  • We do require a list of references upon hiring and/or you can provide a reference letter.

  • CPR certification is recommended but not required for all positions. You may be required to submit proof of certification before arriving at camp is required.

7. Meals, Accommodation, and Laundry

Camp Eden Woods provides accommodation, meals, and laundry services for all staff throughout the duration of your employment.

  • Accommodation: Cabins will be assigned based on availability, with shared dormitory-style rooms or cabins with campers and/or other staff members.

  • Meals: Three meals per day are provided, with options available to accommodate dietary restrictions or preferences.

  • Laundry: Laundry facilities will be available on-site for staff use.

  • We do accommodate all allergies and dietary preferences

8. General Responsibilities

In addition to your role as a camp counselor, specialist, or other position, all staff members are expected to:

  • Uphold a professional, safe, and positive environment for campers and staff.

  • Follow all camp policies and safety procedures, including health protocols.

  • Serve as role models for campers at all times, modeling good behavior, teamwork, and responsibility.
